Friends, Do you believe that the next best thing to life is FREE? Here's why?

When my Mom decided to subscribed for an internet service, a local ISP-SMART Communication was choosen.SMART branded their service as SMARTBRO a Wireless Broadband Internet connection that caters to area which don't have land-line phone network. Before I usually go to the nearest Internet Cafe just to be able to surf for an hour or two, but now net surfing at home for two hours won't suffice me. Everyday is a new learning experienced.

Thunderbird is not a rare or endangered species of animal, that often, or probably can be found in the Rainforest of Africa . I discovered Thunderbird-which for some people is so evasive to deal with, during the early stage of learning a CAD-Eagle program for PCB lay-out by CadsoftUSA.Even,I read Eagle's manual repeatively, my head was bugged with so many questions on how to execute and create my own PCB lay-out perfectly.

My query tossed me to visit CadsoftUSA website, hoping to find some answers. There, I found a news group name Eagle users. Even if, I could not see those people,I hook myself and cast a message of query. When I was about to send my message my computer alerted me to create a news group account. Technical terminologies such as POP[4], IMAP[5] and NNTP[2], which I am not familiar with, halted me to send successfully my message.

The first thing that comes to my mind at that time was-Maybe there is a separate fee that our ISP will set, to be able to participate in the NEWS GROUP. I immediately called SMARTBRO Technical service and a lady with a soft voice greeted me. I ask her what shall I do and if there is a separate fee subscribing in a NEWS GROUP? To my surprised she did not know also, what was am talking .I abruptly say thanks and put the phone down softly and paused. My frustration ended by shouting-By golly-Am I was on Planet Earth or not?

To make my long story short I again revisited CadsoftUSA website and One by one I read all Eagle Users thread .One particular message, which captured my attention is the request of a certain Dave of UK asking help for an Experience PCB layout artist to be payed in a project basis, and at the end of his message is his e-mail address for reply. Without any hesitation I send an e-mail to him asking how he was able to hook-up to the NEWS GROUP, By God grace he replied and suggested to use Mozilla Thunderbird. And the rest is history.

The truth is, the NEWS GROUP that I was talking is part of an internet network called USENET (User network).USENET is define as a collection of discussion groups,
Involving millions of people all over the world. Each particular group is centered in a particular topic. It can be Science, Jokes, Philosophy, Computers, Sex, Culture and more. To add more USENET is free. The program (Thunderbird) I use to access News group and participate is called a NEWSREADER [1][6].If you can afford, you can buy commercial Newsreader such as FORTE AGENT.

Thunderbird is a mail/news group client program develop by MOZILLA CORPORATION a non-profit Organization dedicated in giving the public alternative free software .They are the creator of the popular Internet browser MOZILLA FIREFOX.Visit their website and find some of their software such as MOZILLA Sea Monkey and others. If you feel you are move by their caused, well with open arms they accepts donations or you can buy their merchandise stuff such as Mozilla T-shirt, Gear, Outer wear and more,to all Mozilla store, just to show your support.

Mozilla Thunderbird is a stand-alone software it can integrate your multiple e-mail/news group account; thereby saving you time switching from one ISP (Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL etc...) [2] to another. It is also capable of blocking pop-up ads and message filtering.

So, how does Thunderbird works? Let us say you want to read your e-mail/news group messages, as a mail client program Mozilla Thunderbird will send a request message to the host computer (say Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL) where the file was stored, asking it to send the file straight toward your computer.Mozilla Thunderbird acts as a client while your mail ISP that received the request and send the file is the server [1].A Client/Server relation occur, such process or protocol is known as POP[3], IMAP[5].
